Tuning in to Kids® for Afghan Women (Greater Dandenong)

Join this free, 8-session program and learn how to enhance your parenting skills and build your relationship with your child.

What you'll learn about

  • How to be aware of and regulate your own emotions.
  • How to be aware of your child's emotions.
  • How to use your child's emotional experiences as an opportunity for closeness and teaching.
  • How to teach your child skills to verbally name their emotions.
  • How to teach your child skills to solve problems.
  • How to guide your child's behaviour with appropriate limits.
  • How to maintain important cultural values whilst also incorporating new parenting ideas and research.
  • How your own family experiences might affect you parent your children.

What to expect

The group facilitators are Afghan women who are fluent in several Afghan dialects and have parenting expertise.

You’ll learn about the topics above in a small group with other Afghan women.

Who attends

Afghan women in Greater Dandenong with children aged 12 years and under. You can attend with babies and pre-school children. We will provide child-minding support and refreshments.

Dates/times

Length: 8 x weekly 3-hour group sessions.

Time: Weekly on Tuesdays from 9:30am to 12:30pm.

Dates: Starts on 21 July 2026 and runs for 8 weeks.
