Melbourne Family Relationship Centre provides a range of support services to families experiencing separation. We can help you to consider parenting and communication issues, focus on your child’s needs and make decisions regarding your children without the stress of financial costs of going to court.
Anyone can contact the centre for information, advice and referrals. We can offer family dispute resolution services to anyone involved in caring for a child, including grandparents, step-parents, same-sex and gender diverse parents and other significant people in a child’s life.
We also offer information sessions and workshops to the community.
A key component of our family dispute resolution service is our Family Safety Program, which enables us to support families impacted by family violence and other complex issues, who would otherwise not be able to participate in FDR.
Underpinning our work as part of the family law system, we promote healthy family relationships, work towards the prevention of conflict, encourage agreement rather than litigation, and promote the rights of children to have meaningful relationships with both parents when safe to do so.
Our aim is to provide a service model that allows parents to reach easy, simple and efficient agreements which are in the best interests of children while at the same time protecting children and vulnerable adults from risk of harm. We do that by working in partnership with a range of services including legal services, and we provide a setting in which parties can feel safe and confident they will be treated with dignity and respect.
Please contact us for more information or to discuss how the centre’s services can assist you.
Family Relationship Centres are funded by the Australian Government.
